About us...

Jo and Dave Radcliffe had been Sandown Hoteliers for over 12 seasons. Jo is an Overner, having moved to the Island when she was 8 years old. Dave, on the other hand, was born and bred on the island, making him a Caulkhead.

They had ambitions of running a pub for many years, so when their local came up for grabs in November 2005, they couldn't resist!

Also helping to run the place are Rick, Ian, Ena and Keith.

Overner: The island term for those not from the island, but from over-ner!

Caulkhead: This is a boat building term which comes from the process known as caulking, where a caulk would be hammered between the timbers of a ships hull to make it watertight.
